Atlas GmbH Wheeled excavators

Differential fluid capacity & service interval

Atlas GmbH Wheeled excavators require differential fluid with a capacity range of 11 to 16 liters. Service intervals include checks at 50 to 100 hours and fluid changes at 500 to 2000 hours. The data covers 8 configurations.

The configuration chart below lists fill volumes and service intervals for each engine and trim variant.

Additional Notes

  • The Atlas GmbH Wheeled Excavators 1604MK carries two distinct differential fluid capacities depending on the track gauge width. The 2750 mm gauge configuration holds 12 liters in the pendulum axle differentials, while the narrower 2500 mm gauge configuration holds 11 liters, applying equally to both front and rear positions.
  • Rigid axle differentials on the 1604MK require noticeably more fluid than pendulum axle differentials. The rigid axle front and rear differentials hold 16 liters at 2750 mm gauge and 15 liters at 2500 mm gauge, compared to 12 and 11 liters respectively for the pendulum axle equivalents.
  • Under normal use conditions, differential fluid checks on the 1604MK are scheduled at every 100 hours of operation, with full fluid changes occurring at 2000-hour intervals across all four differential positions and both axle types.
  • Initial service conditions on the 1604MK call for a significantly more frequent check interval of 50 hours and a fluid change at 500 hours. The 500-hour initial change interval is one-quarter of the 2000-hour normal change interval, reflecting the break-in period demands on differential components.
  • The capacity values remain identical between normal and initial service conditions for each axle type and gauge combination. The distinction between normal and initial service affects only the check and change intervals, not the volume of fluid the differentials hold.
  • Both the front and rear differentials on the 1604MK share the same capacity figures and service intervals within each axle type. A pendulum axle front differential and a pendulum axle rear differential carry the same 12-liter or 11-liter fill depending on gauge, and follow the same 100-hour check and 2000-hour change schedule under normal conditions.
