Kalmar Reach stackers

Differential fluid capacity & service interval

Kalmar reach stackers utilize differential fluid with a capacity range of 50 to 65 liters. The data covers 12 configurations.

The configuration chart below lists fill volumes and service intervals for each engine and trim variant.

Additional Notes

  • Each Kalmar DRF 420 and DRF 450 configuration lists two distinct differential fluid capacities: 65 liters and 50 liters. In heavy equipment, dual capacity figures for the same component typically reflect different fill points or differential assemblies within the drivetrain, such as a primary axle differential and a secondary or inter-axle unit.
  • The 65-liter capacity is the larger of the two figures across all listed configurations. A capacity of this magnitude is consistent with a heavy-duty drive axle differential housing on a machine designed for container handling loads.
  • The 50-liter capacity appears alongside the 65-liter figure for every configuration in the specifications, applying equally under normal use conditions across both the DRF 420 and DRF 450 models.
  • All differential fluid capacity entries across the DRF 420 and DRF 450 are designated for normal use conditions. No severe-use or first-change interval variants are listed for any configuration.
  • The Cummins QSM11 engine option is shared between the Kalmar DRF 420 and DRF 450, with both models carrying identical differential capacities of 65 liters and 50 liters under normal use conditions.
  • The Volvo TWD1240VE engine configurations in both the DRF 420 and DRF 450 carry the same 65-liter and 50-liter differential capacities as the Cummins QSM11 variants, indicating the differential specifications are independent of engine choice.
  • The Volvo TAD1250VE engine option, available from 2005 onward in both the DRF 420 and DRF 450, shares the same 65-liter and 50-liter differential capacities as the earlier Volvo TWD1240VE and Cummins QSM11 configurations introduced from 2003.
