The 1-liter figure is associated with smaller or alternative transmission units, while the 2.6-liter figure represents the primary gearbox fill volume for most variants.
  • The addition of an overdrive unit raises the manual transmission fluid capacity from 2.6 liters to 2.8 liters across all marks that list both configurations. The 0.2-liter difference reflects the additional fluid volume required to lubricate the overdrive mechanism integrated with the gearbox assembly.
  • The MK.I (1958-1960), MK.II (1960-1961), and MK.IIa (1961-1962) each carry three separate capacity entries: 1 liter, 2.6 liters, and 2.8 liters for the overdrive variant. The presence of the 1-liter entry in these earlier marks, absent from later ones, points to a different transmission option available during that production period.
