  • The MGB (1962-1974) and MGB GT (1965-1974) share a rear differential capacity of 1.3 liters, which is the larger of the two capacity figures seen across MGB variants. A higher differential fluid capacity generally reflects a larger or heavier-duty axle housing.
  • From 1974 onward, the MGB roadster moved to a rear differential with a reduced capacity of 0.85 liters, down from the earlier 1.3-liter figure. This reduction corresponds to a change in the rear axle unit used in later production.
  • The MGB (USA/CAN) (1974-1980) carries the same 0.85-liter rear differential capacity as the standard MGB of the same period, indicating no regional variation in the axle specification for North American market vehicles.
